Hollywood Starlet II

Oil on board,  24 x 24 ins

My dog was gazing at the sky as she relaxed in the garden and appeared lost in her own thoughts.  The colours of the sky and the reflected lights around her reminded me of David Hockney's Californian paintings so this is a tribute.  She made me think of the transparency of the Hollywood starlet wannabee.

I painted an earlier version of this in cooler colours - Hollywood Starlet I

Jump Doggy

Oil on board, 24 x 24 ins

This was originally a study for a later painting.  My dog was jumping to catch feathers and he looked very graceful and balletic.  He could have been dancing.

Show Dog

Oil on panel, 36 x 48 ins

A large painting that captures the glamour and excitement of the 'Big Ring' at Crufts.  The excited audience is presented in abstract and the dog seems to melt into the carpet as she flows elegantly and gracefully round the ring.

This Italian Greyhound is Champion Dalinset Canzonetta in the Best-in-Group ring at Crufts 2009, handled by Dr Russell Hodges, owned by Russell, Linda and David Hodges (Top Breeders 2008/09).  Winner of 10CCs, 5RCCs, 9 Best-of-Breeds, Toy Group Winner at Windsor Championship Show 2008, Top Italian Greyhound 2008/09.

Oil on panel, 48 x 36 ins

Another large painting showing the elegance of the Italian Greyhound as he leaps and stretches to catch a feather.  The three parts of the painting and the elegance of his actions give the painting its title.
