'Show Dog'   Oil on panel, 36 x 48 ins    SOLD

This paintings captures the Italian Greyhound at work - as 'show dog'.  Where the breed is traditionally depicted in fine-art in the role of 'companion', I wanted to show the Italian Greyhound in one of its prominent contemporary roles in a contemporary and dynamic art style. This painting is of one of the breed's current Champions being shown at one of the world's biggest International Championship shows: the UK's Kennel Club show - Crufts.  The reductive blocks of vibrant primary colours in the painting represent the hallmark colours of the Cruft's showrings and re-create the drama, movement and excitement of intense competition.
Details:  Champion Dalinset Canzonetta in the Best-in-Group ring at Crufts 2009, handled by Dr Russell Hodges, owned by Russell, Linda and David Hodges (Top Breeders 2008/2009).  Winner of 10CCs, 5RCCs, 9 Best-of-Breeds, Toy Group Winner at Windsor Championship Show 2008, Top Italian Greyhound 2008/2009. With gratitude to Alan Seymour photography.

'Hollywood Starlet II'       Oil on board, 24 x 24 ins     £250

This is a re-work of the original 'Hollywood Starlet' using cooler colours and smoother shapes - I was trying for a 'sunshine' blue background with this one although this is possibly too strong.. not sure.

'Jump Doggy'       £250
Study for a larger painting - 'Waltz' - to be completed around Summer 2010
Oil on board - 24 x 24 ins

'Me an' Her'   - Oil on board, 24 x 24 ins   £250
This painting shows how much my life is analogous with the lives of my dogs - Lottie and I are almost indistinguishable.

'Global Play, Orange Ball'  -  Oil on board, 33 x 48 ins     £550
This painting examines the universal concept and image of 'play' in our interactions with our companion species.  The dog represents nature and the globe with subtle colourings of all solid (land) masses. The disembodied arms show the manufacture and control of the relationship: although humans initiate the game the dog shows uninhibited 'pounce' behaviour as if the human is a member of its own pack.

'Hollywood Starlet I' - Oil on board, 24 x 24 ins    SOLD
This painting is based on the colours of the 'Californian Dream': the young who aspire to stardom.  The blues and yellows of the golden sun and bright sky seem to glow through the very presence of the daydreamer.

'The Yawn' - Oil on board 36 x 24 ins       £350

'Urban Guerilla Warfare' - Oil on board, 36 x 24 ins    £350

'Saturday's Game' - Oil on board, 28 x 36 ins   NFS
